Hi! I’m Jessica Palacios, or Ms. Palacios as your child knows me. I am a 2nd grade Dual Language teacher at McDermott Elementary School. This is my fourth year of teaching 2nd grade Dual Language at McDermott. I grew up in Liberal, KS and graduated from Liberal High School in 2008; therefore I know the true meaning behind “It’s a Great Day to be a Redskin!” After high school I attended Seward County Community College and transferred to West Texas A&M University to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. By the time I graduated I had earned my Texas teaching license in Bilingual Education K-6 and transferred it to Kansas to receive a Kansas teaching license. The summer before I began teaching I also earned my ESL endorsement to add to my Kansas teaching license.
I did my student teaching in the Spring of 2012 in a bilingual third grade classroom at Sanborn Elementary for the Amarillo Independent School district. My student teaching experience not only confirmed my passion for teaching, but it provided me with some very beneficial background that I have implemented into my own classroom.
I am currently working on my master's degree in Educational Leadership, and Policy Studies through the University of Kansas and plan to graduate in May of 2016.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
